Pep Guardiola: Winning La Liga matters more than any other title

Pep Guardiola has claimed that winning La Liga matters more than any other trophy as he attempts to get back to winning ways against Osasuna on Saturday.
The Catalans were dealt a blow in midweek when they lost the Copa del Rey final to Real Madrid although Guardiola believes a La Liga title win would be the most important title win.
“La Liga is the title which shows more than any other and we want to win this,” he told the press.
“If we are eight points from Madrid then it’s because we have earned it. Winning La Liga shows that you are a team.”
Saturday’s opponents Osasuna are struggling in the table, just two points above the drop zone in Spain although Guardiola is wary his team cannot take anything for granted.
“Every game won is a massive step to win La Liga. The games we have are against teams who are in the danger zone and so they are hard. It was against Almeria last week, and it will be again tomorrow,” he added.
“I am thinking of winning our game against Osasuna. And so we will go to the next game to try to make a big step so we can progress in La Liga.”
The Barca boss was asked whether he had any pre-Champions League semi-final policies in mind ahead of Wednesday’s first leg in Madrid but he was reluctant to give that game priority prior to Osasuna.
“From Tuesday, I will be thinking of tactics for the semi-final. For now I am thinking of Osasuna,” he concluded
